Tuesday 8th September 2013.
Called at 15:20 hours to assist Wiltshire Police with the search for a 73 year old male with dementia in the Royal Wootton Bassett area. 16 members of WILSAR attended along with many police officers. Male located shortly afterwards in the Cherhill area, near Calne, and taken to hospital. Team stood down at 17:20 hours with 32 hours of combined search completed.
Saturday 7th September 2013.
At 10:00 hours the continuation of search for a despondent 32 year old male in the Trowbridge area. 15 members of WILSAR, 7 police officers and two search dogs with handlers from Dorset Search Dogs attended. Foot, kayak and dog teams deployed. Male located by search dog Oscar and handler Steve. Team stood down at 15:30 hours with 100 hours of combined search completed.
Friday 6th September 2013. Wiltshire Search and Rescue received some ‘fringe’ benefits on Friday evening when Seend’s Paul Waylen chose us as his selected charity. Paul, who cannot remember his last haircut, had his famous golden locks cut off for charity (and to look ten years younger!) Customers at Seend Community Centre and The Brewery Inn donated over £150 for Paul’s sacrifice. WILSAR thanks the Seend community for their continued support.
Monday 2nd September 2013.
Called at 12:30 hours to assist Wiltshire Police with the search for a despondent 32 year old male in the Staverton area near Trowbridge. 22 members of WILSAR attended along with police community support officers, police officers and a police dog with handler. Foot search teams and bank search teams deployed. Search suspended at 21:45 hours as police made further enquiries. 105 hours of combined searcher hours completed.
