Called out by Wiltshire Police at 06:00 to search for a vulnerable missing female in the Gablecross area of Swindon.

Team stood down at 08:30 as MisPer located.

Called out at 20:00 to search for a vulnerable missing female in the Salisbury area. Team stood down at 22:00 as Wiltshire Police believed MisPer to be outside Wiltshire.

Emergency Services Show donates record amount to emergency charities.

One of WILSAR’s favourite events of the year is the Hullavington Emergency Services Show. Alongside hundreds of other like-minded volunteers and professionals we get to showcase our Team, equipment and capabilities to thousands of members of public.

Each year the organisers donate the proceeds to worthy emergency service related charities. This year they raised a record amount of over £30000 of which a generous £2500 was donated to WILSAR alongside 20 other causes.

WILSAR train Wiltshire Police Officers in Water Awareness

Today Wiltshire Search and Rescue’s Water Lead, John Needham, will be delivering Water Awareness and Bank Search training to specialist search officers from Wiltshire Police. The officers will be taught to recognise the dangers to them and the public around the county’s waterways. They’ll also learn how to safely use their search skills around water, the correct protective equipment to wear and how to rescue people from the water using the Talk, Reach, Throw principle. The session ends with a practical exercise where the officers have to show how to correctly use a rescue throw-bag.


This will be the third of three sessions over the last few weeks and helps to keep the strong relationship WILSAR have with Wiltshire Police. They have recently supported the WILSAR Team by delivering talks and training in conflict management, first aid, crime scene awareness and allow us to use their premises at Wiltshire Police Headquarters in Devizes for training and meetings. It’s great to give something back to the Force.

MisPer located shortly after by dog team while WILSAR en route.

2015-16 Callout Swindon

Sunday 12th April, 2015.

Called out by Wiltshire Police at 01:30 to search for a missing teenager in Swindon.

Team stood down at 04:15 as MisPer located.

2015-15 Callout Minety

11 April 2015  |  Latest callouts

Friday 10th April 2015.

Called out by Wiltshire Police at 21:15 to search for a missing person in the Minety area. Assistance received from Oxfordshire Lowland Search and Rescue.

Team stood down at 23:30 as MisPer was located.

2015-14 Callout Chippenham

Thursday 9th April 2015.

Team called out just after midnight to search for a missing male in the Chippenham area.

Police stood Team down at 03:15 pending further enquiries.


2015-13 Callout Westbury – continuation

Monday 6th April 2015.

Called at 09:30 to continue search for a vulnerable 84 year old male in the Westbury area.

Male was found safe at an address in Salisbury. Team stood down at 15:15


2015-12 Callout Westbury – continuation

Sunday 5th April 2015.

Called at 09:00 to continue search for a vulnerable 84 year old male in the Westbury area.

Search suspended at 18:00.
