WILSAR in Henley Regatta!

12 July 2015  |  News

Saturday 11th – Sunday 12th July 2015

IMG_1232This weekend, 4 members of WILSAR assisted neighbouring team, Oxfordshire Lowland Search and Rescue (OXSAR) by providing Safety Boat crew and coxswains for the Henley Masters Regatta.

During the 2 days the safety boats carried out 3 rescues and prevented numerous other pleasure craft from going down the race course. The WILSAR team helped the event utility boat when it ran out of fuel! Thankfully, the event passed off without serious injury, although one competitor was in collision with another river craft.

Lowland Search and Rescue Teams love to get involved in community events such as this. As well as being great days out it also helps to raise the profile of Lowland Rescue and boost funds.
