Wiltshire Search and Rescue are pleased to announce that Adrian Sawyer has been elected as our new Chair. Adrian has been involved with Search and Rescue for over 5 years and has previously held the roles of Membership Officer and Medical Lead. He hopes to bring his experience working for the Ambulance Service and volunteering for other charities to the challenging role.
“I’m pleased to be given the opportunity to build on the work of my two predecessors. The Team has developed a huge amount in the last 4 years and I’m keen to see that we continue to build on our already strong relationship with our colleagues in the Police, Fire & Rescue and Ambulance Services. This is shaping up to be a difficult decade for emergency responders; all of the blue light services are being asked to do more with less. UK Search and Rescue teams have an increasingly important role to play.
“I intend to see Wiltshire leading the way in the areas we’re already strong in and develop further using the knowledge and experiences of our sister teams throughout the country. It’s an exciting time to be in WILSAR; in the next year we’re planning to increase our fleet of vehicles with a 4×4 capability, host national training events, and of course maintain a 24/7 capability to respond to calls for assistance.
“We’re going to be recruiting again in the next couple of months, so if you have the time, energy, and commitment to join a very special team of people, we’d love to hear from you via our website or Facebook page.”
